Deaf UK – a farce?
I have to laugh at the latest goings-on on Deaf UK. The moderator (He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named) has basically accused everyone of being ‘lazy’ and ‘not interested in deaf issues’ simply because most members did not vote in two recent polls: a reduction in TV licence fees for Deaf people, and about the possibility of Freedom Passes in London being scrapped for Deaf residents.
This has resulted in a furore among the members, who are accusing the moderator of being autocratic and a troll, and for having unmoderated opinions.
Deaf UK is now arguably a farce. It is not longer a space for Deaf people to discuss like-minded issues. It’s just a forum for the moderator to have a go at everyone for no apparent reason.
I’d like to encourage all the current members of DUK (and those who have been banned in recent times), to talk about the issues close to their heart, on BLOGS. It doesn’t matter if in English or BSL. Just blog/vlog. At least you won’t be attacked for expressing your views, and you won’t be moderated.

What difference is a DUK poll going to make in the grand scheme of things anyway? The other problem is that DUK is closed, and doesn’t encourage wider discourse. With blogs / vlogs, it encourages people to have ownership in their own views, which pushes up the quality of contributions.
I’m just glad I’m out of there, for my own sanity if nothing else.

She isn’t agreeing with you MM, she is acknowledging that Deaf UK has changed for the worse… what’s more, you need to acknowledge your own tendency to troll, obfuscate and deviate from the point!

Obfuscating ? it’s what I do best, so I play to my strengths. Savva’s views are no different now, than when I was there, he wants to rule the Deaf-UK world, he’s getting his wish, but he can only do that by removing the opposition, which he has done. Be careful he bites…..

You got my support for you. You can check the email which I have just posted to Deaf-UK-Chat. It is about my 2 emails which got banned by dictator John Savva. He saw my emails as ‘Hate Crime’!
I think he is losing his sanity as well Betty Sexy who won’t accept any fair criticisim from deaf uk members about ‘libelling Rob Wilks’ and bending their rules on moderators roles to criticise Deaf-Uk member’s full identities.
Oh by the way why don’t you all check Betty Sexy’s email posting “STOP HATE CRIME IN DEAF COMMUNITY” dated 5th Dec 2006 in Deaf-UK archives.
You can judge for yourself and question Betty Sexy’s sanity. . .
