But they don't, and in the meantime, we're killing humans & animals across the planet, never mind stealing the future from our children. They've been lobbied to exhaustion. So why don't they act? One reason is the power of business. Companies exist to make profit - worrying about anything else is a distraction. As Utah Philips said, "The Earth is not dying, it is being killed, and those who are killing it have names and addresses." So we can either sit about watching our doom (or rather at the moment Alaskans, Bangladeshis, Tuvaluns etc), or do what we can: Before you recycle, Reduce & Reuse. Use public transport, walk or bicycle. Think about the impact of your consumption - not just lightbulbs & where you get your electricity from (Good Energy is best 100% renewable utility), but how far your food flies in from, and anything else you buy. Don't fly, especially not within Europe - there's no excuse.
