Those of you who are that bothered about NotSL and my other websites to check it out every few hours, you may have noticed that my server suffered a few teething problems over the last one or two days, the reason being an outage as a result of Dreamhost replacing some cables at their office. For more details (if you’re really *that* interested!) go here.
As a result of this, some of the features on my server and Dreamhost generally aren’t quite working at 100% capacity, so if you experience problems with any of my websites, you know why!
To be honest, this was rather frustrating, as I was looking forward to working on deaflawyers.org yesterday! I also need to work on a few other websites, but the problem is time, or lack of it!
Just wondering what you are using as the plugin to put a video on your post?
Since it’s Flash based, I assume you’re using the Dreamhost provided tools to make a Flash video, but since I know the primary aim of vlogging is to make it as easy as possible (and accessible where possible).
Flash is a good choice, but if you wanted to make a quick post, obviously you have Windows, it means WMV is the first format.
Take a look at the ExtremeVideo plugin – it can post videos in Flash, WMV, Quicktime, GoogleVideo, YouTube etc – very good tool and quite easy to use. Sadly it seem to be buggered up for WordPress 2.1x but keep an eye on it for updates.
Meanwhile I’m using alternative home-brew plugin’s
Cheers
Thanks for your suggestions, Joe. Yep, am using the Dreamhost provided tools to make the Flash video, together with a trial version of Macromedia Flash 8 Video Encoder to convert from .wmv to .flv.
I still use Windows Movie Maker to create the video clip. It’s not a huge effort, so I don’t mind doing it this way, but will need to replace the Video Encoder once the trial runs out.
