I can’t tell you how over the moon I am to have a beautiful daughter to make 2point4 children; one of each gender. If (and I mean *IF*) we do go on to have a third child, I’ll especially be looking forward to having a surprise, and whether our third is a boy or girl, s/he will be a bonus to an already very happy family of four!

Corey continues to bring a huge amount of pleasure to Rachel and I’s lives and seeing him develop as a human being is truly astonishing to watch. He is certainly a little character and we think he’s going to have a mischievous personality!

I am currently being exposed to the fervour of the Valleys that is Joe Calzaghe and his big fight against Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas, USA.

On the orders of my missus and the in-laws, I have subscribed to Setanta Sports for one month so that they can watch the big fight tonight on Setanta 1 at about 3am in the bloody morning! Yes, the in-laws, and possibly even Kirsty and Sam, are popping over in the middle of the night to watch a boxing match!

I ain’t even that bothered about the match; would rather be in cuckoo land! But, needs must!

For your information, Calzaghe grew up in Pentwynmawr, where the in-laws live, and Joe’s family are quite well known in these parts. In fact, Rachel’s great-grandmother used to live a few doors down from Calzaghe’s family, and used to go “Hello Joe!” occasionally when he walked past as a child on his bicycle or whatever, to which Calzaghe would reply “Hello Mrs Davies!”.

Hence the local obsession!

I think they’re interesting because you can see the fast movement as opposed to the slow movement i.e. the slow is clearer than the fast. It’s cool! Does Oliver have a future as a photographer?

It was Diane Jackson’s (Rachel’s aunty) wedding to Jack Jones today at Ystrad Mynach Registry Office at 2pm followed by a reception at the Three Horseshoes in Pentwynmawr and then an evening party at the Pentwynmawr Workingmen’s Club. It was a lovely day. Rachel was one of the bridesmaids, and she looked, quite simply, stunning. If she looks this good as a bridesmaid, imagine what she’ll look like as a bride on 19 August 2006! I was so proud of her.

I drank quite a bit, but it was spread throughout the day, so I wasn’t pissed nor did I have a hangover the next day. I know some people will be disappointed as they normally jump with glee when I’ve been pissed, so sorry to disappoint you (:oP).

On Sunday 6 May at 5am, my grandfather, Clifford Wilks, passed away peacefully at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, aged 87, after a long battle against cancer. Although his death is a relief for us as we don’t have to watch him suffer any more, we’re all still very upset. Grandad was full of life and had a wonderful sense of humour, and he was the best grandad anyone could ask for. We are all missing him already , but we are glad that he is now with Violet. May he rest in peace.
